“I can confirm, having been at several emergency planning mtgs that the situation is dire . If public do not lock down this weekend there will be catastrophic consequences . On current projections if lock down doesn’t work ICU beds will be overwhelmed in next 10 days . We are stopping all elective theatre work. Operating theatres are being set aside for ventilating patients. Apart from divine intervention for which we must all pray earnestly , many will die . In north Italy many doctors (possibly 12) have already died . Here all consultant ICU staff annual leave is cancelled . We have been told to go on military type rotas of 12 hours on and off . Medical and nursing staff are risking our lives for the public and rightly expect them to believe us and act. Many thanks for disseminating this warning .

Re: The Covid-19 thread
I went a year without a haircut for a bet while at uni. I split my head open pretty badly and it needed stitches, and the bit around that had to be shaved so I put off my next haircut to let it catch up. One thing led to another and I went 13 months without a haircut. This is why in my third-year photos I look a bit like James May...Animalmother wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 8:53 pmOn a slightly lighter note, all the barber/hairdressers are closed. By the time this is over we'll all look like 70's pictures of our dads

Makes you wonder what the virus had to do to get the part...
Re: The Covid-19 thread
Can we not spread chain-letter-style bullshit, please? Nextdoor, Facebook, etc are full of the shit, we don't need it spilling over. Sourced articles, sure. Barely-comprehensible gibberish written by some fuck-o? No thanks.
Re: The Covid-19 thread
Where do you live, out of interest? Your situation sounds way more dire than mine.Achtung Englander wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 8:55 pmI do not think I will drink milk again in a long time as every shop has none. Even bread.
Forget about booking a shop online - its dead. Ocado, Tesco and Morrisons have no slots - not one. We have gone through the looking glass guys. We are now in a new reality. Its fucking Mad Max time. Supermarkets are getting stripped in less than an hour of opening.

Its partly me - I do not want to go until its quiet (late evening) but by then shelves are running low. So its a right royal quandary. Never mind...I needed to lose some weight, no really !

I managed to get some pasta today. I think with various fast food outlets like McDonald's and Subway properly closing down on a voluntary basis that we will see more follow suit and soon the run on the supermarkets will get worse as they will be the only place you can buy food from. Tim Martin will be serving take-away microwave meals from every 'Spoons until the end of time though.

Those retail stores which were already facing bankruptcy before Covid-19 class themselves as essential. We all know that there is a chance once closed they will never open again

I fear you are right. The run on the supermarkets is going to get tougher and tougher. When we start dropping likes flies from next week I expect the run never to end.Mantis wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 1:17 pmI managed to get some pasta today. I genuinely foresee rationing on the way.

I hate to think of the people who depended on those fast food restaurants to feed themselves and families.
