Seems like PSNow is worth another look. They’ve really stepped it up since the last time I’ve tried it. Even forgetting the streaming only titles they have a shed load of play locally titles on there now. Gamepass is much better for newer stuff but there’s actually more on now that I want to play. Won’t play because backlog but want to!
It’s like Sony is almost there but they can’t be arsed with the final mile. It’s also weird they don’t push it more to get more subs and thus more games. Control being on it should have been a shout from the rafters moment but pretty tight lipped outside the shitey PSblog.
Also they seem to have let me have another weeks trial which I’m going use to play Lost Legacy \o/
It’ll certainly not replace gamepass but if all you have is a PS4 is worth a spin.

£15 still seems a bit steep even if the collection of games has improved.

They dropped the price a while ago. It’s 50 a year or 8 a month (I think)

It’s not like everyone is stuck inside and wanting great games to play or anything.

There are three things I want from new controllers; battery life that can be measured in days instead of hours, USB-C charging, and paddles that replicate the face buttons (as on the XBox Elite controller) so you don't need to take your thumb off the right stick.
USB-C charging appears to be in there (thank god, the Dualshock 4 is the last object in my house that still uses USB-micro), but they only pay lip service to the battery life issue (and it's more about negating the effect of the new features rather than boasting about it). I suspect the paddles are going to remain a premium option, either via addon or more expensive controllers.
The thing is pretty ugly, it just reminds me of a third-party controller. I don't hate the idea of a two-tone design, but I think it'll look better in red or blue rather than white. And is the white a clue as to the new console sharing a brighter design I wonder?

I thought they had mentioned earlier that it did have back buttons. If so I just hope they’re not like the elite ones that takes up so much room it’s no longer comfortable to hold the controller without accidentally triggering them.
The sticks look the same which I love, also love a dedicated mic mute button though I'd have preferred a PTT button on the rear. I hate they’ve added more light to the front. I’m not a fan of lights on anything except the telly. It looks fine but you never know till you hold it and resistive triggers feels like a new failpoint. "Dualsense" though

I have little faith that the battery wont be equally terrible, especially as they have added new things like a microphone which is an added drain.

Hopefully the mic can be disabled. I have zero intention of using it.

I don’t really get the battery issue for the ds4. It’s way worse than X1s but it’s not like it’s ever died in a days gaming. I’d be more keen on there being a Qi plate on the base so you could just place them down to charge easily.

I've had mine be pretty much empty multiple times if I'm gaming for any length of time. I make sure I put it on to charge after every extended period of play. Using the Switch Pro pad to play Animal Crossing has really thrown the deficiencies of the other pads batteries into sharp relief. In 60+ hours of play I've had to charge it twice, and the second time was just a precaution.
