That seems like the 1910 equivalent of Sunday Sport stories like "I stuck 9 creme eggs up my bum" and "Sex with Greggs pasty boiled my bellend".

I'll never forget the one I read while working at a newsagents all those years ago.

Man slaps down an issue of the Sport.. "Grandma drowns in trifle"... That's it nothing else just that on the front.

Edit: actually an even better story from that time. One of the local newspapers had a headline about a man with an asbo order who was banned from a neighbouring town for going at a neighbour with an axe or something stupid.

I knelt down that day to adjust the newspapers to make the place look tidy as you do. Someone unknown to me looked at the papers gave me a tap on the shoulder, point at the picture and said to me....

... "you'd think they'd put a better picture of me on there!" Guess who. Being 18 there was a nervous "yeah mate they could've eh, lol". Thanked my lucky stars when I went home.
