Looks can be deceiving eVol, if this render is accurate the PS5 is a big boy.

Looking at the placement of the disk drive it feels obvs to me this is where gaming is going, I'm going to make a prediction:

PS6 will not have a disk drive at all
PS7 will be a streaming subscription service not a console.

BIg but not a chunky thick boy, especially the digital one. It'll go in my unit fine where ther Xs girth will probably have to go on the floor.

They really should have addressed backwards compatibility in this video too, thats seems a dumb move.

A few more things have occurred to me on the design. I absolutely hate blue LEDs, and if the thing genuinely lights up blue, it had better be really subtle. There's nothing more distracting when watching a film in a darkened room than stupid blue lighting on appliances. Secondly, it's white plastic; white plastic almost always turns a beige/yellow colour after a few years, and this thing will be absolutely hideous if that happens. Lastly, it looks stupid on its side:

White plastic yellowing depends on the quality of the plastic as far as I know. Also I agree, my least favorite thing about the PS4 is the big lightbar, its better on the pro (and easier to hide) but its still annoying.

Whelp RIP Spiderman, it's not a new game just a reimagining of the PS4 title with a few new villains. Very sneaky Sony.

Simon Rutter described the Insomniac-developed title as an "expansion" and an "enhancement to the previous game".
Sounds like it could be an enhanced rerelease with a new coda stuck on the end. I wouldn't be surprised if this was to bridge the gap between the first and actual second game.

I had a feeling it was just an expanded take on the current generation game. They did a similar thing with Infamous where they released a new side campaign as a different character who had slightly different powers but it played fundamentally the same.

They said on stream that they wanted to ease the transition between generations as much as they could but then didn't expand on it at all. They've already been on record to say that they aren't that concerned about backwards compatibility so some additional details on how they're going to make it easy for PS4 players to upgrade would have been nice.

I did think to myself 2 years would be too short to make a brand new game so I'm not too surprised.

It also didn’t look terribly impressive either.

I thought that game looked like a knock-off Viva Pinata, especially with the stuck on googly eyes.

Astro’s Playroom will come pre-loaded on every PS5 apparently. A bit like The Playroom was on PS4.

So apparently the "new" Spiderman isn't an expansion or remaster or whatever the Sony executive said, it's a new game similar in scope to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Nice to know that even Sony themselves don't know what the game is.
