To be perfectly fair on them, it’s maybe once every two weeks and the rest of the time they’re fairly quiet but my neighbours do this fucking weird thing where they’re listing to some pish music and then turn it up to 11 for 10 seconds then back down and after a few mins they’re duck it back to 11 for another few seconds. I can’t quite understand why anyone would do that?

Then there’s me taking massive steps through my hall trying in vain to avoid the squeaky floorboards as I leave for work because the downstairs neighbors are so nice and I hate to think I’m disturbing them.

When you’re past 30 (worryingly so) and each week reveals new and exciting ways in which your body and mind are prepared to betray you, and you realise that’s how it’s going to be from now on. Last week I spent half an hour cutting up some cardboard with a bread knife and then could barely move in the evening. A week or two before that I yawned so hard that my sternum cracked like a knuckle (I’m double-jointed in various places, so most joints do this) and now it does that whenever I stretch past a certain point, which is faintly disturbing.

This morning I either slept through my alarm or managed to turn it off while remaining asleep. That’s never happened before. I’ve had a couple of bad nights so I’m sleepier than usual, but generally my body clock has been rock solid in the past and I tend to wake up a few minutes before my alarm.

Can’t wait to see what happens next week! :?

I think that refers to the incontinence. :-k

Bending to pick something up emits an involuntary moan or grunt. Getting drunk requires several days of slow recovery and everyone below the age of 25 is an annoying Edwin now.

Reaching the period where sportspeople younger than me were retiring due to age was quite a depressing milestone.

As was having footballers starting to play for us who were born in a different century to me

A huge plus of getting old for me is that I don't have to go to nightclubs. Night in every night except on those few occasions when you pop out for a social - perfect

Blimey, I think I abandoned any pretence of wanting to go to a nightclub when I was about 23.

I went to a nightclub last year and couldn't move for love of 18 year old idiots and rugby players looking for ass bumping into me while trying to have a laugh with my mates.

I certainly can't remember being that kind of douche towards people when I was that age. Maybe have the same habit of dressing in shitty shirts we got from Burtons but that's about it.

I'd be far happier now sitting with a load of drink around a bonfire with a bbq.

Edit: Edwin filter has stopped working.

Likewise, and I hated each and every time I was ever in one. I just couldn't ever see why my mates at uni insisted on going to the bloody things; music so loud you can't hear the people you're standing immediately next to, shitty overpriced drinks and bloody paying for the privilege of entering one of the odious places. By the end of uni I was taking the bus home by myself when we left the pubs.

This basically mirrors my experience of them as well.

Night club culture can be very different depending on what country you're in I think. I'm not good in crowded places but I was in Italy for a few days once with the company I worked for, and their night clubs were all really nice, with lots of quiet(ish) lounge areas. At the very least there seemed to be a variety of types of night club (I don't claim to be an expert in such things).

Unfortunately in the UK we have this terrible club culture - assuming it's still as I remember it - where you pretty much only ever have one choice in a location once the pub has closed; get deafened by shitty music while packed in like a sardine can with a bunch of pissheads bouncing around, pretending to be 'alpha'. Which is the only memory I have of all the half a dozen or so clubs I ever went to in my youth. Whenever I was dragged into one.

That's certainly what the experience was like ten years ago when I was forced into the things.

I think a significant part of my distaste for clubbing was the fact that I absolutely *hate* drunk people unless I'm similarly drunk enough not to care.
