That whole table is a travesty. The monstrosity in the jar and the shriveled husks on the plate around it are the obvious blunders, but there's also:

- the mass of crap piled on a slate (gahhh), which will likely go everywhere within seconds;

- the basket (eaarrghh) of chips or whatever plonked next to it;

- the slop on the right which is still in a damn pan (wuhh?)!


That's made my forehead sheen slightly from mild rage. Just cook the food and put it on a fucking plate.

For some reason the first thing the improvised nature of the presentation put me in mind of was that episode of Black Books where Bernard attempts to open a restaurant, gets delusions of grandeur and ends up cooking bits of his own oven and orders Manny to make a tower out of soup

The thing is, I reckon if I was having a drink and was served that I would definitely give them the benefit of the doubt provided the gravy and meat was decent.

They must've seen the soft drinks and shat themselves.

I've been served stew-with-hat when ordering pies before, and it's always disappointing, but this is a new low. There needs to be some sort of clarification on the menu; if you're not at least serving cooked filling surrounded by pastry (or a wedge of a larger one), then say so. Puff pastry lids are fine if I know about them when I'm ordering.
