Cheers, Ian, and everyone else. I've sent them two nastigrams since yesterday, because they have the funds "on hold" because they want to know "more about your donors" like wtf? Goddamit if my friend gets a bomb dropped on her head because gofundme held up these funds for days and days, I'm gonna be feeling murderous.

Anyway, I'll update here once I've got the money to her, and hear how it's going. She's okay right now, I guess the villages outside of the major cities are just being driven past for the most part. She's seeing many more videos than we are, and of course destruction up close as well. This is all just a disaster and putin will keep getting away with it.

[edit] PS: Ian, you're the only one of my facebook 'friends' to have donated, and I'm sure it's because of seeing my post here. I deleted about 120 from my list over there, down to 51 now, I think? And I'm super happy about it. People I've known since high school, elementary school in some cases, and not a single soul donated a dollar. I realize that a lot of them might not have seen the post, but I don't care anyway. It's time for me to move on from fb already.

The tldr - Poland were going to give Ukraine their migs because their pilots can’t fly American planes and the USA was going to replace the ones Poland give away. Now Poland we’re transporting the migs when the USA nixed the whole thing in fear of Vlad. If they had just shut up about it that may not have been an issue! :explodeyheademoticon:

I hope it all helps Todd, every soul saved means so much. You are right to ditch the Facebook diaspora, they have contributed to the world's malaise like no other these past 10 years or so. This stew of relentless, unmetered misinformation, mixed with uncritical thinking is wreaking havoc.

I am more and more fearful of the "if I can't have it, no one else will" idea that king scrote will blow up NPP to pollute the area, he is increasingly more isolated, and more likely to just say "fuckit"...humanity is in a filthy mess, and seems to have not really learned anything from its entire history — elevating ego, greed and psychopathy unchecked never leads to a positive outcome...

Thanks to everyone, and yes every little bit helps. US dollar goes a long way over there, at least for now. I'll get paid in a few hours from this stupid contract that I worked (for a total of fourteen hours, ffs I hate America more every day), and will wire her the total amount as soon as possible, then wait for these clowns at gofundme to trickle the funds to me. Otherwise, she'd be waiting another week, and I don't have any confidence that her city will be a viable place for her to be by then, or that Western Union will still be standing/usable.

I'm so conflicted over all this. My Russian ex-wife, Oksana, we've had a friendly sort of relationship the last few years, mostly because we have our daughter to be concerned about. But something has changed in those years as well - she isn't the sweet, smart, fun young lady I knew for most of our marriage. Since she's been with this Russian fellow, Dima, that she met about three years ago here in California, she's become much more intolerant. She's become a trump supporter, for heaven's sake! And they watch RT nonstop, apparently, and worship putin. This is mostly from my daughter Sofia (now eighteen years old), and I've no reason to disbelieve any of it. I haven't spoken to Oksana for about two months now, maybe more? I'm dreading it for the simple fact that she might still be completely fawning over putin and cheerleading all this bullshit - even though her own mother is Ukrainian/Russian! And father is from Azerbaijan. The combo made for an exotically beautiful girl, that's for sure! Smart and talented, too. I'm scared to think what she's become, though

In any case, I'll update in here if that's okay, with this Irina saga. I just heard from her, she's still in the village with her momma and babushka, they've got power again and were making bread again yesterday (it's now around 6am there, she's getting her day going). I've told her about the money, explained what gofundme is and how we've come about these donations, and she's overwhelmed and grateful to all of you. Be proud that you've touched the lives of several innocents, and will be a part of their story and history from now on. Much <3 and peace to you all!

[update #1] Got paid, so I created a new WU account and wired the money. Nice that WU isn't charging fees for sending to Ukraine. This really has the attention of much of the world... Awaiting their confirmation then will text her that it's ready to be picked up. Thanks once again, all

Speaking of apoplectic, Putin is arresting his fsb heads for being just as corrupt as he is—he might have quite a job on his hands. Apparently they convinced him that Ukraine would be quick and quite welcoming of a takeover because that is what he wanted to hear, as is the way with dictators....
