His solo show was one of two gigs I fell asleep at. The other was Slayer.

That takes some doing! I have been a fan of Slayer since Hell Awaits and have seen them many times. At Brixtona few years back, Tom Araya announced himself onstage by coming very close to hitting the brown note on his bass (grinning ear to ear to show he knew it too), I would challenge anyone to sleep through that moment of incipient panic!Alan wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 7:26 amhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-60487917

To be fair, I was pulling double shifts at the time. It was on a large mans shoulder down the front who didnt seem to mind as he tapped me awake.
Didnt have that excuse for the Lanegan gig. It was at Glasgow Grand Ole Opry and it was very very dull. Not bad I suppose but very dull.

Devastated TBH, even though I bowled medium-fast/swingers, I loved to practise leg-spin in the nets because, as a kid, it was a rare skill. To see Shane utterly devastate the world's batsmen with his wizardry, knowing how hard it is to get the ball to drift out in the air and then turn in the opposite way, was an utter delight. His sense of humour, as well as his skill, will be equally missed. Only a year younger than me...Big BIG loss.

Nurse Gladys Emmanuel : What are your meringues like?
Arkwright : I'm not telling you till after we're married.
Open All Hours is my absolute favourite classic sitcom, it's a shame to see another one of its stars go.

My kids grew up with her in Come Outside as Auntie Mabel (and Pippin).
She's been great in everything she's been in from what I can see.

RIP Taylor Hawkins, drummer for the Foo Fighters, at just 50. A nice guy and a great talent.

Ah shit. I’m not going to say I’m the biggest Foos fan, after the first 3 albums I dropped off hard, but one of my favourite gig things was when Dave and Taylor jumped on a kit each and had a big drum battle on raising platforms. I think that was at Edinburghs Corn Exchange but I think they’ve done it a bunch. It was awesome.
