Finally broke my duck, first gig since Lindemann in February 2020 and it was Devin playing the RAH. Had box seats looking down right over the stage, absolutely awesome gig. Next stop, Emperor, Bloodbath and a load of Black/Death metal at the Incineration Fest. Been sat on the tickets for over 2 years now!

Likewise, Ian. I went to the show last night seeing as it was announced before the Saturday date and I'm so glad I jumped on those tickets because the setlist was fantastic compared to the more regular tour material he did the night before. Such a great vibe and it was my first gig since March 2020. Managed to get right up to the front without turning up too early at all to queue too.

So many Ocean Machine and Infinity tracks. What a show.

We stayed overnight in a nearby hotel, and ended up sat in the hotel bar with another 4 Devy fans, two of which had VIP tickets. When they came in, they were struggling with a really big and heavy package - it turned out to be two canvases that were part of the VIP package, but man they were HEAVY. The two lads were saying that some of the VIPs had flown in from overseas and they weren't sure how much of a gift a huge and heavy canvas could be when it came to excess baggage :D

Was supposed to be going to my first gig in over 2 years on Monday but have to cancel it now because my gf has fucking Covid. First world problems I know but I'm still a bit gutted :(

Funeral for a Friend.

They absolutely smashed it, I relived some part of my youth, and they only played songs off the first three albums — the good ones.

I've got tickets for Meshuggah in Glasgow next month, it'll be my first show since Feb 2019. It's bizarre to think it's been so long since I've been in the presence of live music, particularly as I was relatively regularly gigging back then too.

I have no idea what I have tickets for these days. Some shows have been cancelled and refunds given. Some have been postponed and tickets honoured.

I'm totally lost.

I've got quite a few on this year owing to most of them being cancelled from 2020 onwards. Going to a couple of festivals too. Meshuggah next month is the one I'm looking forward to most though.

Will you be drinking, or will you have a Rational Gaze when watching?

Sorry not sorry.

I fucking love Meshuggah live, but have not got tickets this time around sadly. I tend to almost submerge myself at a conscious level and just absorb the assault of sound and light that is their show.

Incineration Festival was both mighty and also a little conflicting... read on.

The festival took place over the course of a day at four different Camden venues - Underworld, Electric Ballroom, Black Heart (?) and the Roundhouse for the headliners.

We weren't able to make it a full day out, but got to see a lot of good bands all the same - Unfathomable Ruination, October Tide, Winterfylleth, Tsjuder, Bloodbath and finally a rare gig from Emperor. And that's where things get a bit conflicted.

Now like many, I am a big fan of Emperor's musical output. I am less interested in the guitarist's history of church burning, and a lot less in the original drummers homophobic murder of a gay man back in the 90s. A murder involving him being stabbed 36 times then kicked repeatedly in the head, for which the drummer has never expressed remorse.

So - when Faust (the original drummer) is announced as coming on for the second half of the set... Yeah, not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand, he served his time. On the other, well...
