Just mentioned this to someone at work who's the same age as me and was horrified to discover that due to spending some of his childhood in Australia, he is only fleetingly aware of the Wombles. There are certain cultural touchstones you take for granted and that's one of them.

One of the few golden souls that have threaded my life from the very start of my awareness...he will be much missed.

That gif of him is pretty heart breaking
Voice of my childhood gone.

Yet another golden archetype that created something within me growing up: desire and awe both, before I was capable of understanding and only feeling. She was a remarkable soul indeed, and I am grateful for that generation of Star Trek and all that it nurtured in me. R.I.P.

He was a huge part of my childhood.
RIP.
RIP.
Re: Celebs are still dropping off....
It's hilarious that despite being one of the most celebrated children's authors he actually couldn't stand kids
RIP though, read so many of his books as a kid - not only the snowman, but the Father Christmas books, lighthouse keeper's cat etc...
Oh, and When The Wind Blows remains one of the most traumatic parts of my childhood!
