Makes sense. Nice to see them learning from their Titanfall 2 mistakes I suppose.

Saves them getting boabied off Red Dead.
I'm still not sure why people think consumers are going to be choosing between Red Dead 2 and Battlefield V, they are hitting pretty different markets.

I think it's more because a lot of people tend to pay full retail price for these games when they come out, and not everyone can afford to buy two £45-£50 games in a single month. It was originally scheduled to come out alongside CoD as well, which is a much closer demographic.

Yep it's as much to do with available money to spend as anything else in this case.

I'd also say there's a different demographic between CoD and BF players. People who play CoD tend to only play that game for their fps needs.

Anywho, delays aren't always a bad thing. I think there's an open beta in September.

Yep. It's sensible on a few levels and not too long really. Like you say the typical CoD player doesn't tend to buy BF and vice versa. I know I haven't considered a CoD purchase in the last 10 years.

The Modern Warfare series was good, possibly the last time a top FPS tried to tell a singleplayer story.

My mum bought me the novelisation of Battlefield 4(?) written by Andy McNab - it's actually better than the story in the game...

Not surprising at all. The majority of writing in the FPS genre is very sub par indeed. It's shame as there's little more immersing than the first person view.

That's probably why they get away with it, if the gameplay itself does the heavy lifting. When somebody combines good story telling with first person perspective then you're really on to a winner.

So out of that the Battle Royale mode will be called Firestorm and support 64 players.

All good. Not sure I'll play much of the battle royale thing but tides of war as a way of introducing new theatres sounds good.

Being able to call in a V1 strike at a pinpoint location looks awesome. But they better not have any womens doing that on the front line, that'd be unrealistic bullshit. ¬_¬

That's a very effective trailer, I must say. I'd actually completely forgotten that Battlefield has a single-player option these days, given that the last one I bought was, I think, 3. The Battle Royale mode could be a lot of fun; 4 player teams sounds like an ideal variation, and it'll be interesting to see how quickly the "ideal" team class composition appears.
