When you have to emphasise that a relationship wasn't technically illegal...
Re: Aaand, In Other News...
I fucking hope so. I live in the fucking true blue heartland where you could pin a blue rosette to a turd and the coffin-dodgers here would vote for it (as evidenced by our having the utterly cunty Ranil Jayawardena as our MP, loathesome moral-free speck of fly-shit that he is). I am pig sick of everything about them.

We have Tory shithead and Federalist Society teat-sucking "hardman of brexshit" here, with his fresh "i used to be in a rock band" makeover to project against the void that is his personality...he has a very strong rural-dormitory heartland, but a very slim majority and we are doing our best to get rid of the [unt...

What the fuck is the Federalist Society? Sounds a tad fascist

US front for corporate/catholic money to tip the scales...they have many convoluted non-profits doing their bidding.

The article provides its own gold on that front:
"Most people...don't like it when we point our entire collection apparatus at your backyard."

Apple decided that the problem with VR / AR adoption is that it's simply too cheap.

It's a very flashy presentation, but even in that they say that the screens are the size of a postage stamp, so I suspect the whole room-filling presentation is a whopping lie, exactly the same as it was with Hololens.

Re: Aaand, In Other News...
Each eye sees a higher resolution than a 4K screen, the pixels are miniscule. They said each pixel is 7.5 microns wide (human hair is about 70, red blood cells 8), and followed up with the fact that they crammed 64 pixels in the space of a single iPhone "retina' pixel. I'll wait until I see it but I'm optimistic about the display.
Fingers crossed this is the insane first release with matching insane pricing, maybe in future there'll be a non-Pro one that doesn't cost as much as a car!
Oh, and don't forget that when it comes to the UK we'll have to add VAT on top of that, so in the region of £4,200.
It's very cool tech, but it remains to be seen if anyone can work out what to use it for. Unity 3D support could help games get on board more easily than other Apple platforms…

I think it’s kind of awesome. I’d never buy one or even slightly consider it but the tech leap could give the future a kick. We didn’t need another mediocre headset or even another incremental improvement, “we” also don’t need a 3.5 grand headset but maybe the market does I’d love to try it at least.

What are you talking about? Think of all the virtual notes you’ll be able to write!
EDIT - Apparently if you use glasses (and can't wear contact lenses, presumably), you have to buy prescription lenses for the headset. Way to solve shitty design by inventing another excuse to part people with their money, Apple.
Re: Aaand, In Other News...
Ehhh, there is an argument to be made for that. The increased space needed between your eyes and the device's lenses to allow glasses to fit does alter the geometry to the point that it makes the device perceptibly larger and lowers the field of view for all users. I don't know enough about lens design to know whether this is something that can be solved mechanically, as the lenses have to focus the image and the margin of error for that is going to be pretty small at these sorts of distances. I've owned 3 VR headsets and only one has had enough room for my glasses.
Of course, this is Apple, so those prescription lenses will cost 8 times as much as they would for my Reverb.
