It’s good, it’s not top tier Dev but good solid upper mid tier.

The usb bit got me

It's... ok, I guess?

Did not grab me at all - nodded my head a bit, bailed out before the end. And I really love some of his stuff!

And that's the story of why I'm not allowed near pregnant women for the next few weeks.

His more straightforward singles are never the high points of the album with his more recent releases.

This is alright though. Gives me quite strong Epicloud vibes.

Let me qualify my enjoyment a little - this really isn't my usual fare, but it is Devy so it gets an automatic listen. Also, while I am being picky, any song that adds in references to Rawk'n'Roll generally makes me cringe - but again it's Dev, so will give him a pass.

What made me enjoy it and recommend it is that it is much more up my alley than the stuff he has released post-DTP, with some much needed thump to it. That, and of course the video - Dev's humour has always tickled me.

Not SYL then, but that time has passed sadly. But still a damned sight better than Empath, Lightwork, Snuggle, Puzzle etc.

Well I hope you didn't listen to the latest track he put out because it sounds like a Lightwork deleted track. By the by, did you listen to Nightwork because the first 3 tracks on that (Starchasm Pt2, Stampys Blaster and Factions) kick so much arse and probably the closest old man Devvy will get to SYL. Its such a shame they were relegated to a bonus CD. Factions is especially great, probably my fav Dev track in ages.

I think Lightwork is ok, it grew on me a bit but my initial experience with it was "Huh, why does some of this sound like Ween" then for the start of Nightwork I was all "YAAAASSS!!!" and then you get hit by a 10minute love letter to Ween that even has a Ween style title, "Precious Sardine". I love him for having such variety in his music so I wouldn't have him any other way but also I wouldnt say no to some more stuff like Factions.

I'm sure I saw on one of his vlogs a while ago that he had three projects in the pipeline with Powernerd, The Moth and then some other really heavy album which I can't remember the project title of.

I reckon Powernerd will be pretty decent when the whole album drops. Jainism is a solid single that gives me Accelerated Evolution crossed with Transcendence vibes. The latest one is supposedly the "ballad" of the album so it's never going to be one for the fans of his heavier stuff. I am enjoying how much synth he is putting into these tracks, they compliment his spacey guitar effects very nicely.
