Played a bit more. It's an interesting game to say the least but I'm thinking that Kojima is terrible story teller and people won't admit it. The plot is nonsensical drivel and the shit that characters say is baffling at times, something lost in translation maybe? It all looks very cool and often photorealistic in places, the landscapes are beautiful (if sparse). I'll keep at it though. Do I get my motorbike back at some stage or is it all walking?

His way of story telling certainly isn't for everyone. I think he's over egged the writing a bit for his last few releases.

You can repair the roads and get both bikes and delivery vans later in the game. Plus cool zip wires for the mountain areas.

One of my favourite parts of that game was rebuilding the roads to make deliveries between the big depots really easy. It was so satisfying getting a truck and just loading it to max with deliveries along the route. Also building a comprehensive zip line network through the snowy mountain areas - essential for some later game parts. As for Kojima, I'm a huge apologist for him, I just love his work so much and part of his games appeal for me is the batshit storytelling. I played Policenauts all the way through for the first time this year, and even that was brilliant. I do realise why people wouldn't like the way he does things though, but for me, he's probably the one game designer I would always buy his games for, regardless of reviews.

I say this as an unashamed Mafia apologist - I even enjoyed Mafia 3 lol - but for some reason this new game doesn't particularly interest me. But then, I also found the Italy sections of the Godfather series tedious, so maybe that's why.

I finished Mafia 3 earlier this year and despite its faults it was a solid game. I'm a little wary of the Sciliy setting as well, there's only so much combat you can do with an old revolver and a sawn-off. Having it set in the 1930's under fascist control would have been much more interesting.

Excited for Witcher 4. Looks like Ciri will be able to use potions, which is interesting - I'm not as up on my Witcher lore as some others here, but wouldn't that mean she took the Trial of Grasses and became an actual witcher at some point? Or could it just be elder blood "a wizard did it" magic?

She has the cat eyes that suggest she has undergone the witcher mutation in some way or another, for sure.

Also, Solasta 2! :o

Yes! With actual professional voice acting this time!

I hope the face options aren't all absolutely hideous again, too.

My pick of the evening's probably Naughty Dog's new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, although that name is bloody awful.

I love the big, chunky, 80s hi-fi-sci-fi aesthetic. I just hope the gameplay's more Elden Ring than Ratchet and Clank. And that it comes to PC, obviously.

Stylish as fuck, though I don't really get on with From Software's stuff (nothing puts me off a title quicker than the Soulslike tag lol), so I hope it's more accessible than that.
