ouchies!

However, do tell what your lapboard looks like... I built my own with some chipboard and memory foam. But I feel like I need more space for controllers and or my extra numpad controller (I swapped laptops at Christmas to one without a numpad, and I panicked in case I play an older game that needs it)

I used to do the lump of wood method but with the keyboard attached I can slide it behind the couch much easier. This won’t be for you though, there’s defo no space for a numpad!

Maybe you need something like the couchmaster which is more like a desk you sit over yourself on the sofa

Hope you didn't pay that much for it!

Nvme boot drive decided to die on me, and to add insult to injury my bloody backup image is corrupt.
I see much reinstalling of programs in my future, at least I've a reason not to wait until October for windows 11 now.

Oof. Pay attention, everyone. If you never check or test your backup, it has a chance of being worthless.

Hate the fact that Lancaster almost never gets snow, let alone snow that settles. The last proper settled snowfall we had that lasted more than a few hours was back in 2009, I think. :(

....but we had snow yesterday! It didn't turn to slush until at least 11am!

I'm perfectly happy with not getting snow at the moment as I walk everywhere. There are a couple of hills I walk up and down every day that are outright treacherous when there's any ice or compacted snow, as they just don't get gritted enough.

What is it about Lancaster that means it barely snows? I live way more south than you guys and for us it's pretty much an annual thing!

Not by the river we didn't. It's weird, someone I work with who lives round Skerton area has sent photos of light snow in his garden this morning, but it's just rain over on my side. For a small city, Lancaster seems to have oddly distinct microclimates!

Something to do with it being between the coast and the Pennines / Yorkshire Dales, I'd guess. Or maybe it's the proximity to Heysham nuclear power plant.

We're surrounded by hills on two sides and the sea on a third. It just doesn't seem to reach us. The last big snow I remember us having was back in 2010/2011 (that time the entire country was covered by it).

It's not a big city, I can't live more than 3km from Wrath and we had a thin but completely ground-covering snow on saturday night / sunday morning. I didn't go out that morning to see how far down the hill it stretched. Presumably it's the altitude that makes the difference, I'm only 2km from the river but about 65m higher up. I've only been here for 3 winters so not really enough to see any pattern.

Pawtag

It’s a tag for your dog that instead of having your details on it it has a QR code which when scanned shows your details. £2.50 a month. For a QR code.

Presumably the QR code is a URL that takes you to some site that shows the latest info?

It would be way cheaper to print your own QR code with useful info directly embedded in it, sack off the stupid subscription.

Their big (only?) feature is it gps pings where the QR code is scanned but if someone is stealing your pet they won’t scan it or allow gps access and if they have the intention to return them they’ll call you. Plus not everyone understands or trusts QR codes so it could be detrimental. Plussss for a years sub you could sew an AirTag into a harness for a far more effective tracking tool.
