MÖRK BORG: Chapter I: Nurse the Rot
Re: MÖRK BORG: Chapter I: Nurse the Rot
Used to low light, Fechr will take the lead, creeping through the darkness, allowing his eyes to adjust to the dim light shed by the others' torches, teeth bared.
Re: MÖRK BORG: Chapter I: Nurse the Rot
Seeing his companions venture downwards, Giant will skitter after them...

Re: MÖRK BORG: Chapter I: Nurse the Rot
A complex echo has been noticed, so I begin a testing ditty to explore the resonance of this cold, crumbled edifice. I whittle a smaller torch from a normal one, light it, and slot it into the headstock of my groaning lute, as we descend to the crypt amidst dissonant arrays...a captured audience might be rightly appreciative...

Fechr shoots Prügl a withering look, before returning his gaze to the dimly lit undercroft.

But what will Malaiz and Scrotvm do?Animalmother wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 1:33 pmA barely whispered, possibly imagined utterance "Of course you need a torch. Fuckwit!" seemed to emanate from Margar's belt.

The normally subdued Malaiz perked up a bit once they ventured underground. It reminded him of his cozy cave. His eyes, used to dealing with the gloom, adjusted quickly. A cursory scan of the ground revealed no pointy stones, but recent footprints trailing through the dust could be seen. Something moving slowly, dragging one leg behind the other perhaps?

Re: MÖRK BORG: Chapter I: Nurse the Rot
ACT I: SCENE III
With the entire party having now descended down the steep steps into the undercroft beneath the chapel — save for Grin, who they left up in the sanctuary, writing in monkey shit on the walls, and Barbarister who is standing guarding Lord Margar's camping equipment — the group find themselves in a long, dark but narrow tunnel that stretches off ahead for some distance. There is no light down here, save the two torches held aloft by Lord Margar and Prügl.
As they progress along the tunnel, they soon become aware of liquid intermittently dripping down through a series of tiny holes in the low ceiling. It smells foul. From somewhere above, through the tiny holes, they hear the sound of skittering feet and faint tittering.
They also see, up ahead, the end of the tunnel. Apparently the passage slopes gently upwards, towards a hole in the ceiling, and a faint orange flickering glow suggests a fire of some sort beyond, though whatever the source of this light is, it cannot be detected from this angle and distance.

Giant scampers over to the dripping liquid, pokes it with a finger and then tastes it.

Can I check for any sign of traps?

It tastes like...urine.
Waving your torch around the dark passage, you detect no signs of traps in the corridor. You're safe.
For now.

Malaiz pushed past Giant and dipped a finger into the yellow pool. Tapping the finger on the tip of his tongue he sagely confirmed that it was indeed urine, then returned to his spot at the rear of the group.

Giant briefly wonders how he knows what urine tastes like, before deciding that he will stop asking himself questions he'd rather not learn the answers to.

Might be sewer. Good source of rats. Out, put torches out. Fechr sneak through hole.
I'd like to smear myself with whatever dark coloured substances I can find; dirt, excrement, soot from the torches, whatever I can find that will dull the pasty white of my skin. I move as quietly as I can towards the hole in the ceiling. Can I attempt to climb up?
