Test Presence, Lord Margar (d20+3) to see if you recognise the strange song you hear from the hole.
11 + 3 = 14

I'll use the sword to unceremoniously hack a mushroom into pieces and then eat it (the mushroom, not the sword ¬_¬).

Fechr will quietly step back and inform the rest of the party that there's a room full of monsters ahead.
"Now Fechr, have you suitably ascertained their intent and temperament? Although I'm starting to think none of the locals here are prepared to enter into a reasonable discussion."

Giant would like to scarf down a magic mushroom.
Roll a 5d6, recording the scores separately, in a line.

You recognise the song...it is a nursery rhyme that you and your long-absent childhood friend, the son of Baron Risten, were be taught by his nurse-maid, long ago...oh yes...the screaming hag throwing bones onto the fire, whom Fechr murdered in the rotunda.

"There was an old lady who swallowed a fly, I don't know why she swallowed a fly – perhaps she'll die!"

Stuffed in a pocket of the corpse, you find a mad manifesto of some kind of anti-monarchical group trying to bring down King Fathmu. You may attempt to read it if you like.

“For once, Fechr, I think we’re in agreement that some amount of violence may be called for.”

I prepare the bomb and head stealthily towards the room with the monsters.

Neurodivergent brain. Not much good at anything in life except keeping track of details most people don't care about!

I prepare the bomb and head stealthily towards the room with the monsters.

Lord Margar passes through the room with the corpse and stands by the archway, watching the monsters in the room to the south.

This is what has been revealed thus far:

Image

He takes note of the three torches, the five spindly, horned creatures with their barbed tails, clawed hands and feet, and jet-black leathery skin, the knives glinting in their hands, and their sixth dead companion. They stuff mud into their mouths and urinate into the holes in the floor, tittering all the while between mouthfuls of mud.

He also notices, behind them, a huge iron portcullis, dividing the room off from a gloomy segment beyond the reach of the torches' glow.
