The door at the western end of the infirmary, between the dirty beds and up a small flight of steps, has a lock in it!

Giant will scamper eagerly to the door and try the key in the lock. As he passes through the infirmary, he will also eye the daggers and grab one if it looks in decent condition.

Are you sure you don't want a sword? They deal d6 damage. Daggers only deal d4, which is no more than your femur!

I'm just trying to picture Giant actually using a sword, in my head-canon he's like a cross between Gollum and that creature from Mac & Me:Stormbringer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 8:57 amAre you sure you don't want a sword? They deal d6 damage. Daggers only deal d4, which is no more than your femur!
Spoiler
So not sure I'm seeing him as an expert fencer ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
I can definitely see him trying to stab something sneakily from behind if the opportunity arises though!

Re: MÖRK BORG: Chapter I: Nurse the Rot
I kind of pictured him as a pasty-white-skinned version of Salad Fingers!

Very well; if you want the dagger, by all means take it! Just wanted you to be well-informed.
Giant-Dances-the-Sea runs between the filthy cots and their dismembered occupants, up the flight of steps and tries the key in the western door.
It unlocks and opens onto the room with the mushrooms sprouting from their patches of glowing moss and the dark hole in their midst.

Haha, it's definitely in the same genre.Stormbringer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 9:25 amI kind of pictured him as a pasty-white-skinned version of Salad Fingers!

God, Salad Fingers is a blast from the past, I remember my sister excitedly showing me, and being quite disturbed by it

So, unless I'm missing something obvious (more than likely), the only avenue of progress out of this area is the hole the centipede came from?
I'm assuming we'd rather avoid levering up the rusty grate and dealing with the giant spider... ¬_¬

And, just to check, did we pick and consume all the available mushrooms of that type? And, if there are more growing, is there a reason why we couldn't eat more to (hopefully) boost stats further?

I await Giant's graceful swan dive into the hole.

Your mushroom lore tells you that this performance enhancement will only work once. Don't ask me to explain the biological science of this (there isn't any).
The grate in the floor where the spider dwells seems pretty solid; not something that can be levered up.
The hole in the floor in the north-west is the only area not yet explored.
You may recall I said this about it:
With your torch you can see the hole is about six feet deep, and there is a dark tunnel leading off from the bottom. Something at the bottom glimmers in the dark, reflecting your torchlight.

Is there something near the hole that I could tie my rope to? If so, I'll do that. If not, I'll hold the rope while someone climbs down.
Re: MÖRK BORG: Chapter I: Nurse the Rot
Squeezing himself into dark, mucky crevices seems like it's in Giant's wheelhouse, so he'll do that very thing.
He'll also investigate the new shiny.

Re: MÖRK BORG: Chapter I: Nurse the Rot
There is also a fishing rod on the bookshelf, but if Giant Dances the Sea is happy to lower himself into the hole, then that will do just fine.
It is dark therein, and the walls of the hole are coated in a weird, sticky crimson sludge. It is not blood, but disgusting all the same.
The tunnel which leads off from the bottom is too tight for a human-sized creature to fit into, but certainly the giant centipede could have burrowed through this with its acid-coated, drill-like mandibles.
Lying in the red sludge at the bottom of the pit is...
THE STAFF OF AWFUL LIGHT!
<angelic chorus>
