https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c79dz3e4vdno

What this BBC article fails to mention is that Ryan Welford, who died in this incident along with the police officer Rosie Prior (who tried to help him) was involved twelve years ago in another collision with a tractor. When being medically treated for injuries sustained from the tractor collision in 2013, it was revealed he'd been born with a heart defect which had gone undetected until then.

So, what we're talking about here is a man who:

1. Was born with a heart defect.
2. Crashed into a tractor in 2013, but survived.
3. Crashed into a car in 2025, but survived.
4. Was rescued from the car by a police officer, but then a rogue lorry driver from Berwick-Upon-Tweed slammed into them both and killed them!

I don't believe in 'luck', good or bad, but...that's just incredible.

The Bavarian Zugspitzbahn wants to advertise one of its local mountains during the upcoming World Cup races, but the International Ski Federation (FIS) thinks it's all too risqué.

Seeing as they're charging £2k for their top card I'm finding it really hard to have any sympathy.

Yeah, $500 billion is quite a lot of money, but at $2.9trillion they're still worth twice as much as God.

I wondered exactly when they got to that value, because up until fairly recently I still thought of them as just a GPU company. I looked at their stock price history, the company is worth 1900% more than it was at the start of 2020; $5.91 at 43 million shares. They're now worth the above figure but at a billion shares of $118. It is utterly insane how much value AI has created for them, so is it any bloody wonder it's being pushed so much?

It was destined to come down at some point. A significant amount of their current value is based on the hype they generated by bullshitting about AI. All of the tech companies have been overvalued way beyond what they're actually capable of doing with the technology at the moment.

But yeah, I suspect it will rally shortly. Investors love the future these companies are offering of maximum profit with AI generated employees replacing real people that they have to pay.

Reminds me of Ian Malcolm's line:

"A butterfly can flap its wings in Peking, and in Central Park, you get rain instead of sunshine."

Knowing very little about these things, is the CEO responsible for the actual stock price? Does Jensen Huang now have to make the difficult decision to fire 600,000 staff to ensure that line go up?

Good point. The line can only ever go up these days apparently. He might be brave and take a cut in the bonus he gives himself.
