Great game for a group to dip in and out of, I've played-through the whole thing twice now with the same group of gamers, you don't have to do that, you can just explore more world, but we like the adventure and base-building.

And that's the story of why I'm not allowed near pregnant women for the next few weeks.

Seeing as it's this thread which has had discussion of Redfall... seems like journos got hands-on with it at a recent preview event, and reports have been... mixed. RPS seemed pretty positive with it overall, PCG described it as "sad" and disappointing, while Eurogamer seemed to fall somewhere between the two.

The main PCG criticisms seemed to be that the open world was empty and boring, and combat is good initially but all too soon the enemies were boring to fight.

It's on Gamepass so not too much investment to try it, even as a co-op experience with forum peeps, but may be a bit of a misfire from Arkane this.

Most of what I have seen has been really positive. I take PCGamer's opinions on most things with a heavy pinch of salt nowadays.

Lol, this is true of course. A lot of the points they raise though would detract from the experience, though.

Nice! Lamplighters League will be hitting GP on day 1 on October 3rd... that's saved me nearly £50!

Avowed reviews are out... and while most people seem to like it ok, it all does look and sound a bit meh to me. Sounds quite shallow in a lot of regards, and it's not an IP I've ever fully engaged with - although I've played both previous PoE games I've actually never finished either, and the lore never really pulled me in.

It's a shame as Obsidian in the past has made some genuinely great games, but this just seems like a fantasy Outer Worlds, which again was fine but pretty much exited my memory the moment the credits rolled.

When I'm still barely scratching the surface in KCD2 and am still gamely plugging away at Stalker 2 in the hope of one day finishing it, I can't see myself launching into this any time soon.

I'm quite looking forward to Avowed and very much enjoyed PoE 1 and 2, but I'm finishing KCD2 first. Who knows how long that will be!

Outer Worlds to me was fine. Inoffensive. Uninstalled within 2 hours of starting out. It was just so generic I couldn't muster the enthusiasm to play it. If memory serves I fought my way to the first conurbation, hoovered up a bunch of generiquests and any desire to play it further died a prompt death there and then. It say on my SSD for a couple of weeks and then succumbed to the cull.

Yeah, even though I played to completion I felt largely the same. I can't even explain exactly why it didn't grab me, it just didn't feel particularly immersive or interesting, combat was fine but nothing special, but no element feeling particularly outstanding.

I always remember people commending it about how the narrative could be affected and things could play out vastly differently. I meant to go back to it but I only got a couple of hours in before the "this feels like Bethesda zzzzzz" set in.

Same I read a lot of positive things about it, and was vaguely interested as I played around with different weapons etc on my way to the first town. Once there though it all just felt like a well-trodden path that I had no interest in revisiting though, and that initial frisson of interest at a new title evaporated like morning mist.

Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader just landed on Game Pass, highly recommended for any that haven't played it yet.

Yep, I've made a start on this one. CRPGs don't tend to be my cup of tea, but playing Darktide over the last few years has gotten me into the 40k setting so we'll see how I go.

Shout if you have any questions, it's a very different system to D&D and takes a bit of getting used to
