More clear blue skies today!
Also, I like eBay's new payment system.

My fire is more than can be made with forests,
My state more base than are the basest valleys;
I wish no evenings more to see, each evening;
Shamed, I hate myself in sight of mountains,
And stop mine ears, lest I grow mad with music.

I enjoy a bit of spice but I struggle to handle anything too hot. Today, however, I’ve discovered these:
The translation apparently is Korean nuclear fire noodles, and they live up to the name. There’s no build up, it’s an instant torrent of spice, but it’s also a good kind of spice - a full-bodied spice with a decent flavour. By the end, the blocked sinuses I’d had the last few days had been purged, my breath was like fire and I was slightly light headed. Milk did nothing to dull the onslaught either.
I can’t quite explain why other similarly hot food is unbearable but this was not only tolerable but delightful in a slightly masochistic way. It feels like it should come with a medical warning. I’ll definitely subject myself to it again.

I can't stress quite enough how good this system is. I mean, I'd prefer it if people bid higher on my auctions, but in terms of the cash delivery mechanism, this is just fantastic.

Great weather today! Always lifts my mood.
Also, GIMP version 3. A big improvement over the previous one. I'm not quite sure why, just yet, but it's got a nicer feel to it. Also, the fact GIMP exists. A free version of Photoshop. Amazing.

I’ve finally caught up with the 21st century today by getting my first Uber taxi, and I was pleasantly surprised by the entire process and experience. Taxis in Lancaster before covid were expensive at best and bile-spouting racism wagons at worst, but since covid they’ve been completely pointless for most purposes because you can’t book them in advance and typical waiting times are upwards of 40 minutes.
Compare that to Uber, where I got a selection of driver options with reasonable waiting times and very reasonable prices, a map showing where the driver was (instead of a taxi texting me that he’s herd and then driving past my house 10 minutes later) and a lovely clean car with a driver content to make the journey in blissful peace and quiet. And there wasn’t the stupid taxi dance at the end where they hit some buttons on the meter and the fare leaps from £5 to £9.50.
You know, I think this Uber thing might take off.

Wait, do we have Uber here now?
Re: The Room 102 thread - for things you love or just having a bloody good praise!
They’re not like America, they’re just taxis you order in the app for a markup. Too many regulations here for random psychos to just become taxis

They're significantly cheaper than a lot of local taxi firms in our area. I've paid a tenner for an Uber on many occasions when another firm would ask for 25 quid.

Could be better now, talking 4 years since I used then and I remember being as shocked at the price as a Daily Mail reader seeing two men kiss.

I have been using Ubers for ten years.
At first, I was blown away by the system...but after about maybe five years...there came a point when actually being able to get an Uber in Edinburgh became next to impossible.
Then we got our own car, and I have never looked back!

Just got a cracking new pair of trousers. Might be the best trousers I’ve ever had. Even came with a nice wallet!

Oat/Almond milk!
So, I've been suffering for years from folliculitis on my face. It's been bloody awful. Turns out it's my skin reacting to the whole milk I've putting in my six-cups-of-coffee-per-day over the last fifteen years or so. Using ChatGPT, I was able to diagnose what the problem was. Following the AI's suggestion, I cut milk out of my diet completely and now I'm folliculitis-free, which is a great blessing. Of course, going from whole milk to black coffee was a bit of a shock, but then I discovered oat/almond milk and found it's actually delicious, and I now prefer it by far to cow's milk.
