Fallout 76
Re: Fallout 76
It’s a weird emotional blackmail thing to make us worry that this multiplayer game made of old assets is going to bankrupt Bethesda

Nothing inspires faith in a game more than the developer coming out and saying they don't know why they made this broken mess of a game.

Bet it still looks like a motorway smash in November even on full settings. Hate that engine.

Throwing the Gamebryo engine online is a bit like building a skyscraper with plywood joists.

Re: Fallout 76
Aye this. That whole thinly disguised begging letter annoyed me also. Bethesda could do with a kick in the arse (Not the employees, the decision makers). This utterly feels like wallet filler to me in order to fill in the time before their next big release.
Like you say also Wrathbone...That engine...online. could be frightening.

Re: Fallout 76
I'm happy for them to release wallet filler if it means we get a better Elder Scrolls down the line.
Re: Fallout 76
I'm more interested in this Star....something game that they are making.

Re: Fallout 76
Starfield. It's meant to be their next counterpart to TES or Fallout.
Mighty Horse Rocks The Fat Ass.
Re: Fallout 76
At least with a sci fi setting, that dreadful Bethesda engine's alien looking faces will look appropriate.
Re: Fallout 76
Don't get your hopes up on the newer games as you know what crap engine is going to use and suffer the same fate as all last few games from them and even more RPG stuff removed from them.
I've watched a fair few videos on it from people that are enjoying it and those that have some issues even from the recent "Beta" and "stress testing" shenanigans. It's really smacking a lot of Sea of Thieves vibe in that unless you like doing very repetitive missions with friends (which is a must to get enjoyment out of it). Better off staying clear of it and checking back after 6-12 months after release.
The beta is timed play which was 4 hours then it's being reduced to 2 hours to stress test the game/servers ( no idea if that is for the rest of the supoesdly beta time). Only they never did mention any of this till after people bought into it and of course you can't refund like you could if it was on Steam by some accounts.
Now if you are going to come out with some bullshit about stressing the game/servers where does picking 2 hours that for most will be at some ungodly hour to do so. Not everyone is in the same timezone. You would open the beta to get as many people as possible to hammer it for as long as possible while recording all the data so you can indeed do something with it.
I think more people will be off playing Red Dead 2 instead to be honest during this beta period, that does look good from what I have seen. Only content creators will put up with beta in Fallout 76 and whatever else happens from now on.

That definitely sounds like a bullet well and truly missed.

Re: Fallout 76
The attitude of Bethesda with this is remarkable.
“Pre-order and play our beta!”
Oh, okay. Maybe. I’m not really sure I want Fallout online, though.
“Neither are we! Also, it’s probably going to be a massive shambles from the start!”
Oh dear. Can I have a refund if I pre-order and don’t like the beta?
“Of course not! How are we going to make money if WE have to pay for a QA department and get THEM to test it for us?!”
I’m struggling to see the benefit in this for the consumer.
“Uhhh... well.... I mean, Fallout... and... look! Over there, it’s Todd Howard and his reassuring tones!”
