Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

Admiral Lisa Franchetti too, I'm sensing a theme...
The navy was turning people away last year because all recruiting goals were exceeded. 'Mediocre white men' seems to be the defining attribute of this malignant administration.

For a country that reveres its military and veterans, it's incredible to see that this kind of thing can happen. Firing the best of the best of the military without there having been even an indication of any wrongdoing on their part. How much is too much America?

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
All the administration have to do is declare someone as "liberal", or probably just "woke" now (one syllable is probably far more manageable for some of these people), and it doesn't matter what other factors are at play. They see "the other side" as the enemy, and Trump in power is a chance to stick it to them after four years of the "disastrous" Biden administration. The fervour is so intense over there that I'm not convinced that Trump saying "I am the reincarnation of Jesus Christ" (more likely "God was a loser") would do him any harm.Snowy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 1:08 pmFor a country that reveres its military and veterans, it's incredible to see that this kind of thing can happen. Removing the people who would oppose/prevent a complete takeover of the government by force is probably a good idea when staging a coup. I wonder if all of the Secret Service are now completely under Trump's control, otherwise you'd like to think one of them would take action before it's too late (if it already isn't).

A week after he begged the nuclear safety staff he fired to return.
I hope they call his bluff and all resign. Musk probably hopes they will so he can replace them with his own people, and he’s probably looking at Twitter and thinking yes, it was initially a disaster when he pulled a similar stunt there, but the platform still exists. Except the federal government is somewhat larger and more complicated, not to mention fundamentally important to critical infrastructure, than his social media cesspit. I hope they all leave and it’s a fucking catastrophe with him at the wheel.

The cunts appointed by Trump tell federal workers to ignore the Musk email. Perhaps some cracks are forming?

Well one is the FBI—fash Patel—so will take care of the purging himself, as he is a Flynn fruitcake, who just made knucklehead BoingeyBongino assistant director...
Good to see fElon's efforts frustrated in Germany, although afd came second. Did anyone see the clip of him leaving his bullet shield behind as he exited the young fascist conference yesterday? Not a moment of concern as he strode off waving, with his kid negotiating the stairs alone. No wonder his baby mothers are sueing him left right and centre.

Just imagine being a federal employee, knowing that your rich bosses are fighting over who gets to fire you because it'll let *them* report you as a cost saving instead of the other guy.
Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
He did that before Farage and Truss delivered their speeches and they seemingly weren't phased enough by it to decide it might be better to pull out. I believe Truss was actively imploring a foreign power come and overthrow the UK government during her speech actually.
Even the French far right representative didn't want anything to do with CPAC after Bannon did that. Not our traitorous right wing populist politicians though.

We are suddenly very isolated... we left Europe, which increased our dependency on the US, support which is rapidly evaporating. We will be held hostage at best and conquered at worst.

These people don't even feel they need plausible deniability anymore, and why should they? Every time these things are reported, they're reported as:Wrathbone wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 2:22 pmMeanwhile, Steve Bannon's doing Nazi salutes now.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2glydm3gmo
Not, y'know, "Donald Trump's former top adviser made a Nazi salute," because libel laws would allow you to be sued for that. Someone needs to codify what the Nazi salute actually was to allow the media to say when someone does it. If you can't say they made a Nazi salute, you can't then use that as evidence that that person is a Nazi, or follows a Nazi-esque ideology.President Donald Trump's former top adviser made a hand gesture that some likened to a Nazi salute.
I honestly feel like I'm cracking up watching this happen in real time. Even a year ago, the supporters of a major world leader making Nazi gestures on stage would have felt bafflingly stupid. Now it's just "oh, another one". Germany just came within a 9% vote share of electing a far right party again. Germany! France turned down the fascists, the UK did too, but not to the point where they're not emboldened. The countries in which millions died fighting facism just three or four generations ago are turning to these morons in droves. I don't know how we reverse this trend when critical thinking and learning from history aren't working, and when the Left and the media are being practically useless in opposing it.
Hell, maybe Trump is the one that will drive people away from fascism. Maybe he fucks things up *so* badly for the US that people finally realise how idiotic this all is, and turn back to sensible politicians who want to fix problems, not just use them as talking points. If the French far-right are refusing to speak with the Americans when the Americans are doing this stuff, perhaps that signals that the Americans are pushing it too far and that maybe Europe won't fall for the same brand of nonsense.
I suspect that's probably just wishful thinking.

I think it has gone past the whispering 'pimples of doom' warnings and needs a nice big shouty, life-threatening boil to force focus...but we had that with Russia, which ideally should have been roundly expelled from Ukraine by all decent nations together—Iraq invaded Kuwait and the West said "fuck that"—seems it was never about decency, but about what threatens the wealthy and their opportunity.

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
I think there is hope for us to come away from this entire thing in a position of strength. It was never going to be easy to combat the propaganda and misinformation campaigns that far right agitators are peddling on social media with the support of their tech oligarch friends, but a move to directly deal with those talking points and seize the narrative by incumbent governments could still see it off. These movements are taking advantage of the immigration issues across the west which, like or lump it, we do eventually need to do something about. Seeing America effectively become a Nazi government and losing their backing might be the kick up the arse that we need to deal with those issues before our next round of elections and Reform win even more seats.
A joint effort between France, Germany and the UK to wean ourselves off American military support and putting Europe back in control of its own well-being could reinvigorate our industrial bases and be great for our economies. It would probably go a long way to helping squash our growing far right problem.
At least this whole ordeal might teach us that America has never been our friend. We've piggy backed off their global hegemony since WW2 to stay remotely relevant on the world stage but American foreign power projection has only ever been about looking after America, they don't give the slightest toss about Europe. It just happened that for a very long time American interests lined up fairly nicely with ours.

I agree, issues that have been sensed for decades by "the woke" are finally getting real in the consciousness of the ignorant, so it will ultimately be a good thing, if it is overcome. The length of time and amount of pain getting there is another story.
